Bloggers are journalists. Yes or no?

I read an article relating to unreleased Apple products which caused an information leakage to the readers (for more information, read here). In the news context, it stated that due to precedent and legal manner in the world of blogosphere, bloggers are considered as journalists. This, if I would have to fend off according to my opinion, I strongly disagree to such a statement. Bloggers are in a way considered as journalists.

Why? Through all my years having the knack of reading and browsing through informational and knowledge guidance that are two cents' worth, I can vouch that bloggers most indefinitely are journalists. Did you know that fashionista experts that posts everything related to fashion and couture are honest-to-God highly paid journalists themselves? Even though it relates to only blogging but in the end, they do get paid for the services they performed in sharing information relating to fashion. For instance, The Sartorialist and Citizen Couture. As you click on the website and scroll down, you must be wondering, where are the words that they are suppose to inform to the readers about their expertise on fashion and only so many photographs? Well, that's the thing. Bloggers and/or journalists on the web, doesn't necessarily have to relay words, pictures can somewhat speak for themselves. Hence the phrase, "a picture is worth a thousand words". I strongly agree on that one. Both of these websites are the perfect specimen to picture blogging that fashionista journalists are able to connect with the readers who are keen with fashion and couture.

Both pictures from The Sartorialist

If that's not enough, I can provide more websites that coincides the fact that bloggers are in fact journalists. The thing about bloggers is that, they have the wider scope in  relaying information in the internet easily to the readers. As oppose to journalists that works for the press, only a few limited number of readers would care to cough up their pocket money and peruse about the happenings and goings around the world. For instance, I find this website material to be very productive when my counter-productiveness do kick in at times. I'd just click on this link and voila! I can read for hours and hours reading through interesting facts about the world, which are mostly true by the way; Mental Floss. The thing about Mental Floss is that, you can never find any other bloggers that are eccentric and interesting as them. They can spend their whole free time scavenging the whole entire United States' continents and scour everything about the history and current events in America.

I could list down many other bloggers' websites that proves merely that they are journalists. But if you do think about it, it does depend on what kind of information do they relay onto the readers. Are they informative to what's akin to knowledge? Do they provide an act of curiosity which brings us to delve even more deeper into what's in and what's out? How do they do it and what would be the forms and ways for them to find accurate facts about anything and everything? So yes, in my opinion, bloggers are journalists. I rest my case.
